1. 23. 2010 A street corner I like near my apartment. The trees jut out of the cobblestone; when you walk past the flower shop, the smell of green and fresh washes over you; a French bistro puts out a daily specials board that includes wine; people from the neighborhood park their bikes; and from the bench there is a view on the small chapel that belongs to the Alter Südlicher Friedhof, or on the beautiful old windows and rounded doorways.

Statue in remembrance of the "Todesmärsche von Dachau" ... the "death march" that occurred three days before the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp.
"...The SS forces about 7,000 prisoners on a death march from Dachau far to the south to Tegernsee. During the six-day death march, the SS shoots anyone who cannot keep up or continue marching. Many others die of exposure, hunger, or exhaustion. The surviving prisoners will arrive in Tegernsee on May 2, 1945, where American forces liberate them. "
